Nainital popular for Naina Devi Temple located atop the Naina hillock near the Naini Lake. Kausani the charming mountainous town that has unparalleled natural beauty on display. Kausani is located at an altitude of 6200 feet above sea level and makes for a perfect place to visit during summer months. Mahatma Gandhi called it the ‘Switzerland of India’ due to similar landscape. Kausani offers mesmerizing views of some of the most well-known Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi, Trisul and Panchachuli. Kausani is also known for the Anashakti Ashram, a place where Mahatma Gandhi spent some days. Corbett, Established in 1936, Jim Corbett is the first National Park of India, and is located in Nainital District. Other than the Bengal Tiger the park is also known for leopards, elephants, spotted deer, sambar deer, barking deer, chital, sloth, Himalayan black bears and Indian grey mongoose among others.

On our Uttarakhand holiday we set out to explore one of the most popular cities in the state of Uttarakhand – Nainital. The distance between Delhi and Nainital is about 305 KM and the drives takes approximately 7 hours. Upon arrival we go to the hotel to complete the check-in formalities. After that we take some time to freshen up before heading out to explore the city.
Headquarter of the Kumaon division, Nainital is one of the most visited hill towns, not just in Uttarakhand, but India. It is located at an elevation of 7999 feet above sea level and get its name from an eye-shaped lake located within the valley where the city is located. Nainital has a number of popular tourist spots that we cover during the day. The city has a Mall Road which is known for shopping, food and also cultural activities. We spend a few hours exploring this place. Post this we visit the Naini Lake, which is situated right in the middle of the city and offers boating. It is a perfect place to enjoy a leisurely stroll. We also pay a visit to Tiffin Top, a vantage point located in the Aryapatta Hill in the area. We can hike up to the top or opt for a pony ride. This is a great place to enjoy unhindered views of the city of Nainital as well as the Himalayas. We return to the hotel in the evening for an overnight stay.
Day two of our Uttarakhand holiday tour is also reserved to explore the picture-perfect city of Nainital. We start the day early and go for a sunrise hike to Naina Peak, the highest point in Nainital. It is located at approximately 8579 feet above sea level and it takes an hour or so to reach. It is a popular spot, especially among those who enjoy being close to nature and adventure. We visit a glorious sunset here and then come back to the city. After this we have breakfast at the hotel and head towards Nainital Zoo. It is a great place for all those like to witness wildlife at close quarters. Our next stop for the day is the Naina Devi Temple, a well-known Shakti Peeths of the Hindu religion. After this we enjoy a ride on the aerial ropeway that takes us to the snow view point, affording unmatched views of the city with the lake right in the middle. We end the day at Mall Road and then head to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Visit Rudradhari Waterfall, Sumitranandan Pant Gallery, Kausani Tea Estate and enjoy the sunset with the tea at your hotel. Overnight at Kausani.
On our Uttarakhand trip, we set out to visit another popular destination, Jim Corbett National Park. The distance between Kasauni and the National Park is 140 KM and it takes approximately 4 hours to cover it. Once at the National Park, we proceed to check in to our accommodation and freshen up. We spend the rest of the day at leisure, enjoying camping along with a delicious meal. We retire earlier than usual today as we have a morning safari planned for the next day.
